We have three different accounts with them, one with myself as an adult, and then two with my daughters, who were minors at the time, and we joined during a summer special while school is out that teenagers can come to work out. Trying to cancel their accounts as they are both off at college, yet the facility needs them to come local where they signed up to sign an end of membership contract. Even though they were minors, and I have been paying for all of it. Unbelievable! No desire to perform customer decency, and in general customer service. After researching planet fitness, I have found that at least 75% of their income comes from gym contracts that are never used. No wonder they make it so hard to end the contract.

The employees are pretty rude here. Often times I ask questions and they answer in an annoyed tone. Also I have seen the employees on the phone many times using their wireless headphones. Not cool.

Mary was so kind and explained the sign up process clearly. She gave me a detailed tour and explained all that was included in the Black Card package. Now that I've been a member for a bit, she is always happy to see me and always asks how things are going. I'm so glad I signed up and that people like Mary genuinely care about me as a person

Really nice facility. Very clean. Friendly staff. Lots of different equipment to choose from. Truly a judgement free place. Can't wait to go back!

I know some people complain about the PF business model, but it's really about time they got over it. The free pizza/bagels or whatever it is isn't really any different than getting that stuff at work and newsflash: NO ONE IS MAKING YOU EAT IT. Geez, some people just like to whine to feel better about themselves.

Now on to the actual review.

I like this PF in Mishawaka because it's 24 hours. I was a grad student when I joined and having a gym with 24 hr access was important to me. The nice thing about this one is that it's always clean, never gets too crowded (peak hours are after-work rush) and the staff is generally friendly-although there seems to be a high turnover as of late, a lot of new faces recently.

I've gone to workout at a variety of hours, from 6am, to 2pm, to after 8pm. I'd say the 6-7:30ish window on weekdays is probably the most crowded. On the weekends the place is pretty much deserted. What's nice though is that no matter what time you go, you can always see employees cleaning up. (Although I will say as of late that this seems to have dropped off a bit during evening hours. Not sure if this is a policy change or due to an understaffing issue).

Recent problems I've noticed include: paper towel dispensers at the designated locations only have one full at a time (on repeated visits this has held true), I'm assuming this is due to efforts to minimize waste (and the bottom line), but during peak hours this is kind of annoying. I also noticed at some point earlier this year they removed the scale from the women's locker room, which I think is just silly. It was in there for years previously and there was really no reason to remove it. If people don't want to use it, they don't have to. We're all adults and responsible for our own decisions.

I also will say be careful in the parking lot, some people drive through there like they don't have a brain.

td,dr; Clean gym, cheap fees, open 24 hours, plenty of parking out front.

Kind of a younger crowd feel. Nice people though. Equipment is in relatively good condition with the occasional break down and a paper sign up for massage chairs and tanning. Could be bigger and better but it gets the job done.

Wish I could give just half a star!!

The actual facility is solid. Pretty clean and big. However, there are very few free weights and they have a bell they ring if you do any heavy weight lifting! If you are squatting or deadlifting you feel so out of place. So much for judgement free. For that, along with $10 price I would give them 3/3.5 stars.

However, the staff attitude and loopholes you have to jump to cancel your membership is outrageous!! Left town last year and tried to cancel my membership through the phone and in person. They told me nope! We know you can start a membership online and in person but to cancel we decided you have to write a letter to a PO box. Fast forward to last week, I'm back in town and see a deal for 50 cents to sign up online. I pay $10.50 and sign back up. I walk into the gym the next day and am told they had to cancel my sign-up (although they will keep the money) b/c I still had an active account with $160 owed on it. SOMEHOW they never even put notes on my account about all the times i tried to cancel. They asked me if I wanted to pay and I just laughed and started gathering my things. Then they ask me if I want to make a deal. I ask what deal? "Oh well you pay a portion of the $160" LOL no thanks, I tried to cancel on the phone and in person and I haven't been to this gym in this past year. Plus you took $10.50 from me under the false impression that I was getting signed up. NO DEAL, keep that $160 on your books.

I work out at multiple gyms.... when it comes down to it, for $20 a month this place rocks. I currently pay $50 at a DIFFERENT gym and the equipment is dirty, they don't tune it, The bathrooms smell, I simply go there because it's close to work.

First and foremost, the staff is always cleaning. No matter what time I go someone is moving machines and scrubbing, scrubbing the floors, deck scrubbing the bathrooms, It's insane. They've been open a year and I thought for sure I would notice a decline in cleanliness and equipment but not the case. There is staff there 24hrs which is awesome, they always say hello and goodbye.

People complain about weights, I suppose it just depends what you are looking for. I do crossfit and barre classes- then planet is an awesome option for supplementing in some extra cardio and lifting. For a female such as myself it's not an issue. They don't offer classes, but with my work schedule I have to go elsewhere for classes no matter where I am a member most of the time,

The extra frills like towels don't bother me either. I would rather bring my own than use a community towel even if it's bleached. The tanning, massage chairs and tables are convenient, I don't use them a lot. But like I said when it comes down to it I spend $20 a month on a lot stupider things.

Have never had any issues with billing since I signed up 1+ year ago either.

Big and spacious... multiples of most weight machines and countless cardio. A big fan, thanks Planet!
